SUMMER TRAINING CAMP – DENMARK Print

It was my pleasure to have had three days at the Danish 2009 Summer Training Camp.  Regrettably I was only able to b e there from Sunday, July 05 till Wednesday morning, July 08, 2009.

It has been my pleasure to have been at many Training Camps.  I must state that I have been pleased at each and every Training Camp that I have attended in the IBK.  Our Dai Shihans are working very hard to provide the best Training possible.  Each of our IBK Dai Shihans has experience in many different Martial Arts but Kyokushin is the center of their particular organizations.  This Training Camp as all provided the challenges and the skills for each participant to become better.  After all, isn’t that the central purpose of all Training camp!

This Training Camp was closely supervised by Hanshi Creton himself and his Black Belts ‘leading’ it by actively participating and holding themselves and everyone from the oldest to the youngest to the highest standards,

The location for this venue was at a Youth Hostel in Sønderborg, Denmark near the German Border.  The training was held outside on a Soccer field.  The weather was mostly sunny and hot.  There was some rain but no one complained and it did not cause any delays or stoppage.

There were 80+ attendees.   As in all of our Training Camps the participants were males and females and of ages from the young to the elderly.  The participants in this one ranged between approximately 7 and 75.   Demands are the same for everyone to include the sparring.  This is the way of martial Arts and so it should be and was and should ever be.  They came from many different counties such as England, Denmark, France, Thailand, and Germany.  They came in good to excellent physical condition.  This contributed to their being able to stay with the high and hard standards and resulted in fewer injuries.

This Training Camp had a Plan or I should say “Plans”.  Concerning the “PLAN”;   I should say Plans as there  are plans for each of the four training periods each day; there was planning and clear guidance to each regarding what their parts were; there are plans for everything that could possibly restrict or slow down the action; there are plans for taking care of everyone.  There were plans for injury treatments and instruction to the ‘staff’ of Hanshi Creton as he provided the treatments.  It was perfectly ‘Organized’ because there were ‘lesson plans working to a clearly definded-Syllabus”!  Often many forget that Organization is spelled with Organize because without Organize there is no Organization!

Everyone was ready to do their part and everyone was ready to fully participate.  The demands for excellence were high as they should always be.  Everyone who came had prepared by being in top physical condition, and as the work progressed they clearly became even stronger and much better technically.  They came to train and to improve and that is what they received.

The 25th annual Karate Jutsu Summer Training Camp was once again held in Sønderborg, Southern Denmark. The training was mostly taken by Hanshi Bernard Creton with the assistance of his UK Shihan’s John Wilson 6th Dan (England,) Wayne Mortimer 5th Dan (Wales), Ryan Gordon 5th Dan (England), Ulla Nielsen 5th Dan (Denmark,) Darren Brinkman 4th Dan (Thailand), and Pam Horton 4th Dan (Scotland). The training was mostly traditional Karate with equal emphasis on free style Kumite techniques. The theme this year was to introduce a new training format for all the clubs to follow. Feedback has been huge and 100% positive.
Regrettably Kancho Henk Kuipers was injured and not able to attend this Summer training Camp.  We wish for Kancho a speedy recovery and hope to have him in attendance at future Germany Training Camps and Championships. OSU!
