IBK Dai Shihan Tom (Taiyo) Madsen was invited to hold a seminar in Siberia, Russia. Dai Shihan Taiyo report is as follows.
As promised i hereby send some info on the Siberia Seminar.
It’s a sunny day as Shihan Tom “Taiyo” Madsen arrive in Tomsk, Siberia, Russia. Dai Shihan Ivan Bychkov and his Team has arranged a seminar with a number of Russian fighters from different styles and invited Taiyo to teach at the seminar.
Already the first day the Students learn real IBK All Round Fighting. Focus today is made on “Leglocks” and “Modern Take Downs”. The students are eager to learn and even though there are no mats on the floor the techniques are being trained and the bodies of the tough Karatekas are hammering against the wooden floor – but nobody wants to stop. From the beginning on Taiyo knows that these fighters will continue and train all night if they have to – so around 10 p.m. the respect was paid to Kaicho Bluming and to each other as we have another tough training the next day.
The next day the full team is back on the floor ready to show real Kyokushin heart and learn with each other. Sunday training begins with some modern and practical useable Close Combat training – again the student show no fear of throwing each other on the floor and all are training their hearts out.
After a short break with delicious Russian “Borch” soup – training is continued. The topic is disarming of firearms in a real combat situation and again all students are learning quickly and with great heart – a pleasure for Taiyo to teach these strong and open minded Karate Kas. Dai Shihan Ivan Bychkov has arranged a Black Belt grading. The grading was again done with respect to the Kyokushin traditions. Also joining the grading fights were the fighters of the Siberian Shotokan. And after watching them fight Taiyo knew……there is Shotokan and “Russian Shotokan” these fighters were fierce and strong just like the Kyokushin fighters – great to see!!!
After some 15-30 and 50 man very though fights the Grading was passed – congratulations to the ones who succeeded and thanks to the fighters who stood against the fighters being tested.
Before Taiyo took the Plane back to Germany the Siberian IBK had planned a City tour still in wonderful sunshine and again delicious dinner!!
