20/06/09 full contact kyokushinkai tournament Suriname |
|
|
On saturday June 20th 2009 the Dai Shihan of Suriname Remie Burke organised, for the third time, a full contact kyokushinkai tournament in the capital of Suriname, Paramaribo. His goal is to motivate black belts of other styles to compete with kyokushin rules.
Full contact karate tournaments had not been held for more than 30 years in Suriname before Burke started organising them again, so during the matches the referee’s sometimes made mistakes.Shihan Burke wil set up, together with some other trainers, a kyokushinkai referee training. Sensei Kenneth Sijp, 3th degree blackbelt, will take the lead at the training of the referee’s and during the matches.
During the fights on June 20th Shihan Burke let all of his student that wanted to fight, compete.
There were no big injuries during the competition.
The school of Shihan Wilfred Burgos was the only kyokushinkai school in the Suriname IBK that entered the fight. He entered with 5 students.
Shihan Burke hopes other schools also will organise full contact fighting
so Suriname can start practising All round fighting. The MMA fighting is not practised yet in Suriname.
Next Kyokushin tournament wil be in June 2010.
